Specialty Ginger Extracts by Supercritical CO2-Extraction
FLAVEX Naturextrakte GmbH, Germany offers three
types of supercritical ginger extracts which are different
in their composition profile. All are however composed by
100 % of ginger ingredients. They are completely free of
additives and they don’t contain any solvent residues due to
the CO2-extraction procedure.
014.001 Ginger CO2-selective extract
The product contains about 90 % of volatile ginger
components and only traces of hot ingredients. The product
represents perfectly the exotic ginger flavour and is used
in food flavouring compositions but also in the field of
fine fragrances due to its exciting olfactive properties.
014.002 Ginger CO2-total extract
The product contains in a concentrated form and in the
natural ratio of the starting material a high amount of
about 40 % essential oil and of about 30 % pungent ginger
ingredients, mainly gingerols. It can easily replace a
conventional blend of ginger oleoresin and steam distillate
and provides the advantages of a lower dosage and superior
flavouring result. The product is also available as a
certified organic extract.
014.008 Ginger Hot Flavour CO2-total extract
The product contains an enriched amount of about 45 %
pungent ginger ingredients and correspondingly a smaller
amount of about 5 % volatile flavouring components. It is
especially cost effective in all cases of food application
where the pungency is the priority point of view. It is
recommended for beverage application where more essential
oil can be connected to solubility problems. The product
fits perfectly as well to food supplements and natural
remedies that take advantage of the physiolocial properties
of gingerols, i.e. anti-emetic, anti-oxidative and
anti-inflammatory.
The unique selectivity of supercritical CO2-extraction
thus provides new types of ginger extracts which are
optimised for special purposes and which are hardly to
achieve by conventional extraction or distillation
procedures. The described ginger extracts have their own
character. They are new tools for perfumers and flavourists
to create premium-grade formulations. |
