MILKO GETS A WORLD-FIRST FROM ELOPAK
Sweden’s leading dairy is first to trial latest carton
innovation

Milko’s new range of fruit yoghurts now in Elopak’s Diamond

Elopak, the global packaging systems specialist, will
unveil its latest carton innovation in partnership with
Swedish dairy Milko. In March 2005, Milko will re-launch its
famous healthy low-fat, low sugar fruit yoghurt drinks in
the new standard Diamond Pure-Pak® Curve carton, and in
doing so will be the first company in the world to trial the
latest in carton packaging design and technology from Elopak.
The new package combines the technical and ergonomic
design features of the award winning Mini Diamond and
Pure-Pak® Curve carton, to create a totally original shaped
carton.
Consumer tests have demonstrated that the Diamond
Pure-Pak® Curve carton retains the traditional and familiar
premium image of the Pure-Pak® carton, with the added
emotional value of the unique curve feature, and the
functional benefits of the cap with better grip and bigger
pouring opening. The pouring spout diameter is increased
with 38% to give improved pouring properties. This new
carton concept was selected by Milko to give the dairy a new
edge and stronger premium profile for its high quality and
healthy yoghurt products.
Elopak has installed a Pure-Pak® P-S50 filling machine
into Milko’s central Grådö dairy and products will be on the
shelves in early March 05. Marketing Manager Jonas Welander
at Milko says, “We were impressed by the striking and
elegant style of the carton which with the 5th panel
provides new graphic possibilities and a prominent space for
branding or slogans. We have used it for one of our key
messages for these products – LÄTTSOCKRAD (meaning Low
Sugar). For Milko, Elopak’s innovative design generates
outstanding visibility and the distinct differentiation
demanded for the highest quality products in an ever
increasing competitive market.”
Elopak’s senior project manager Oyvind Stampe adds,
“Elopak is constantly striving to push the boundaries of
carton packaging design and technology. The combination of
the key features and convenience benefits of two successful
carton developments has produced our best liquid food
packaging option. This first market test will conclusively
demonstrate the new premium possibilities for both juice and
dairy from Elopak Pure-Pak® carton innovation.”
A range of six fruit yoghurts will be launched in a 1
litre standard Diamond Pure-Pak® Curve carton, in the pilot
scheme for Elopak’s most recent innovation. The Milko
flavours are blueberry, strawberry, orange, four fruits
(peach, pineapple, apricot and pear), three fruits (apple,
strawberry and raspberry) and mixed berries (raspberry,
strawberry and cranberry). All six varieties are health and
fruity drinks enjoyed by all the family as a healthy low fat
and low sugar yoghurts.
