Allied Industrial Corp., Ltd was originally a dye manufacturer. Based on the accumulated synthesis and formulation know-how a fast track project was initiated in 1996. The goal was the development of a synthesis for nature-identical Beta-carotene, and corresponding formulations.

During 2000 and 2001 Allied successfully launched its Beta-carotene products to the global food and supplement industries under the brand name Altratene^®. This introduced more competition into a market, which had been dominated for years by only two manufacturers.

In January 2002 Allied Biotech Corporation was formed as a subsidiary of Allied Industrial Corp., Ltd Group, with the purpose of focussing entirely on the carotenoid business.

Altratene^® is manufactured in a new large scale, and state-of-the-art plant in Taiwan, which holds an ISO9001:2000 certificate issued by the German TÜV CERT Certification Body. Besides the Altratene^® products are kosher certified by OU and they are all non-GMO produced and non-BSE produced.

The product portfolio includes formulations for all applications. Oily suspensions in various concentrations are primarily used in products such as margarine, salad dressing, popcorn, and soft gel capsules. Cold water dispersible powders are used in dairy products, soft drinks, bakery products, custards, instant beverages and nutritional powders. Finally Allied Biotech Corporation also offers Beta-carotene emulsions, which are primarily used in beverages, but also in other water based products.

Allied is continuously working on improving its position on the market as "The Carotenoid Company". In line with this, Allied is now introducing another exiting carotenoid "β-Apo-8´-carotenal". This provides a deep red colour and is already well established as a nature-identical colorant on the food market. Allied can offer β-Apo-8´-carotenal as an oil suspension or solution, as well as on dry powder form. These formulations make it possible for food manufacturers to colour products like cheese, margarine, vegetable oil, soup, sauce, dairy products, sweets and pastries. The quality are of course at the same high level the market has learned to expect from Allied’s Altratene^® Beta-carotene product range.

Allied Biotech Corporation has established a global sales and marketing network, which comprises own offices in Germany, Denmark, US, Brazil, China and Taiwan, and co-operations in several countries with partners specialized in distribution of food additives and ingredients.

With this set-up, and due to the high service level and product quality, Allied is now supplying carotenoid formulations to important food and supplement companies in more than 45 countries around the world.

In its relative short period in the market place Allied has effectively established a position as a serious, customer orientated, and long term source of carotenoids. This was underscored in December, 2003 and April 2005 when Allied Biotech Corporation won the "Market Penetration Award" and the "Product Line Strategy Leadership Award" issued by internationally renowned Frost & Sullivan.

The market has generally appreciated and welcomed Allied Biotech Corporation’s entrance into the carotenoids area, and frequently asks when the company is ready with more formulations and new carotenoids. It is Allied’s strategy to become the carotenoids company, and Allied is therefore working on the introduction of new Beta-carotene formulations as well as other carotenoids such as Lycopene, Lutein, Astaxanthin and Canthaxanthin.
